AMS Acoustics carries out a wide range of environmental noise-type surveys and investigations. As such the Practice is well equipped with the necessary measuring equipment.

Noise Impact Studies
This work includes taking background noise measurements and predicting the impact of the proposed development on the surroundings. Such developments include theatres, places of entertainment, supermarkets, shopping centres, transportation depots and leisure centres, etc.

Noise Nuisance
AMS Acoustics is familiar with and has extensive experience in dealing with noise nuisance problems both on behalf of the complainant and the perpetrator of the nuisance.

AMS Acoustics has experience of liasing with Environmental Health Officers to ensure that the Local Authority Guidelines are satisfied and noise nuisances are resolved.

Noise nuisance cases may involve any of the following:
  1. Places of entertainment.
  2. Industrial processes/premises
  3. Commercial
  4. Private residential.
In the case of industrial and commercial premises the investigation and survey is carried out in accordance with BS 4142.

Planning
AMS Acoustics is able to help in Planning Applications and is familiar with Planning and Policy Guidelines PPG 24, which is the current planning instrument.

Construction Noise
AMS Acoustics is able to carry out detailed noise studies for contractors, consultants, the main client or the Local Authority on all sizes of construction projects, these involve:
  1. Background surveys
  2. Noise specifications
  3. Noise prediction
  4. Liaison
  5. Site supervision.

Transportation Noise
The environmental noise impact of road and rail schemes can be calculated using suitable accredited algorithms. AMS Acoustics has several computer models at its disposal. Calculations are undertaken to determine noise insulation requirements for dwellings adjacent to transportation systems.
